Ethernet Interface

The Qb2 by default uses a 1000BASE-T Ethernet port for communication. The same port is used for powering the sensor via Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.

When the Qb2 is configured to communicate via the integrated WiFi interface, the Ethernet port is only used for powering the device.

Power over Ethernet

The Qb2 is a Type 1 powered device (PD) according to the PoE standard IEEE 802.3at. It can be powered by any power supplying equipment (PSE) that conforms with the IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at standards.

Some PoE injectors available on the market (often designated as passive PoE) use different voltage levels than those defined by the IEEE 802.3af/at standards. The Qb2 might not function properly if they are used. Make sure to always use PoE equipment that complies with the aforementioned IEEE standards.

Connector specification

The wired network port of the Qb2 is a IP67-rated M12 round connector (as per IEC 61076-2-109). The connector is supplied with a protective cap, which must be removed before the electrical installation. When no cable is connected to the Qb2 and during storage, please put the cap back onto the connector.

The Qb2 can only maintain its IP67 rating if either an Ethernet cable with IP67 rating or the protective cap is properly screwed onto the Ethernet port.
